Getting started¶
To get started with using CoBaseKRM, administrators and users have different groups of setup tasks to be completed to configure system components and create data objects to support the system environment.
IT implementation information¶
The IT implementation information page is intended for the CoBase administrator and the IT department for your organization. It provides detailed information about hardware and software requirements, resources, implementation and deployment, performance optimization, data integrity and security, and other IT-related information that is necessary to support the CoBaseKRM system environment.
Administrator setup tasks¶

To enable CoBaseKRM administrators to get started with setting up and configuring the system environment, complete the following tasks.

- Sign up for an Administrator account
- Invite new users to a workspace
- Get a brief overview of navigation in the web client
Data governance tasks:
To create key data objects to support projects for scientific research and experiments in the CoBaseKRM application, complete the following data governance tasks:
- Review the overview of data governance to understand the key aspects of data governance
- Create units of measurement
- Create domains
- Create parameters
- Create templates
- Create metadata tags
- Review the overview of projects
- Create a project
User setup tasks¶
Permissions and access
Minimum role: Researcher
Client type: web client
To enable users get started with using CoBaseKRM, complete the following setup tasks:
- Respond to an invitation to join a workspace1
- Get a brief overview of navigation in the JMP add-in
- Get to know the Projects view
- Upload files to the database
- Update your account profile settings using the web client

This specific task actually only requires a minimum role of Guest for a new user to join a workspace. However, typically as part of the first-time setup process to assign new users to a workspace who are allowed to begin working on projects, a minimum role of Researcher is required. ↩
