Getting started

To get started with using CoBaseKRM, administrators and users have different setup and configuration tasks.

Overview of the CoBaseKRM application environment

The CoBaseKRM application environment comprises a web client, a JMP add-in for desktop, and a database. The web client is a browser-based client that supports most of the features and functionality of CoBaseKRM, including uploading data table and supplementary files, projects/network maps/paths, data governance, search, and model management. The JMP add-in for CoBaseKRM supports uploading JMP data tables and models, files and models search, and similarity search.

Administrator setup tasks

Permissions and access

Minimum role: Lab manager
Client type: web client

To enable CoBaseKRM administrators to get started with setting up and configuring the system environment, complete the following tasks.

IT implementation information

The IT implementation information page is intended for the CoBase administrator and the IT department for your organization. It provides detailed information about hardware and software requirements, resources, implementation and deployment, performance optimization, data integrity and security, and other IT-related information that is necessary to support the CoBaseKRM system environment.

Setting up the web client and first workspace

To get started with setting up the CoBaseKRM system environment for your organization, complete the following setup tasks:

Data governance tasks:

To create key data objects to support projects for scientific research and experiments in the CoBaseKRM application, complete the following data governance tasks:

User setup tasks

Permissions and access

Minimum role: Researcher
Client type: web client

To enable users get started with using CoBaseKRM, complete the following setup tasks:

  1. This specific task only requires a minimum role of Guest for a new user to join a workspace. However, typically as part of the first-time setup process to assign new users to a workspace who are allowed to begin working on projects, a minimum role of Researcher is required.
