Overview

CoBaseKRM supports the ability to define and enforce standard naming conventions for your research, experiments, parameter names, and units of measurement by using data governance features.

When you navigate to Data Governance from the main navigation bar, four tabs are displayed for templates, parameters, units of measurement, and tag management.

Data governance tabs

A template is a set of parameter names, domain names, and related units of measurement for a given project that is used to define a set of standards for a research project. CoBaseKRM uses a template assigned to a project to validate data files for experiments which researchers upload to the database to ensure that parameters, domains, and units of measurement conform to project standards.

A template also serves a purpose in data version control, where historical data records are assigned unique version control IDs to maintain data integrity.

Parameters are measurement or quantity variables for which numeric values are specified in experimental data.

Domains are classification objects to manage logical or meaningful groupings of parameters. Domains are defined and classified in a hierarchical tree structure using parent-child relationships.

Tags are a form of metadata assigned to data objects to enable searchability and for defining meaningful relationships to key processes and quality characteristics.
